Host a Special Screening of Balancing The Scales

A unique and powerful way to engage and educate members of your firm, legal department, or bar association about gender and diversity challenges in the workplace.

Here’s how a screening of Balancing The Scales, followed by a Q&A, panel discussion or CLE presentation with Filmmaker/Attorney Sharon Rowen will benefit your firm or legal department:

  • Men and women lawyers and clients can see and hear candid conversations about the challenges faced by women lawyers. Male allies and leaders will learn about strategies to nurture and retain women in leadership roles.

  • Firm leaders will come away with a better understanding of the positive impact diversity and inclusion will have on the bottom line. The research is clear – a diverse leadership leads to a better bottom line.

  • An in-house screening/presentation can be videoconferenced to more than one office so that all lawyers can receive CLE credit at no additional cost. Screenings followed by a panel discussion, Q&A or program have been granted professionalism, general, and/or bias elimination hours in many states. (See list of states which have adopted the ABA anti-discrimination model rule) Each organization is responsible for applications for CLE credit.

  • Clients can see for themselves the firm’s commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Presentations can be individually designed and can include the following topics:

  • Implicit bias - what is it and how to stop it

  • Intersectionality - challenges of minority women lawyers

  • How to avoid reinforcing cultural stereotypes about women leaders

  • The revolving door of attrition of women lawyers - what we can do

  • The economic advantages of a diverse leadership

  • The pitfalls of non-diversity: sex discrimination and Paycheck Fairness Act suits

  • The role of leadership in bias elimination

  • What we can do as individuals

  • What we can do organization-wide
